Human dialogue goes through a path of confusion, a path of interruption, and so-called "misunderstandings".
Individualization, in a radical and introspective way –looking at oneself- is expressed in this aspect, and consequently, it fails to connect with another, who is listening to himself
There is an external deafness. And toward that place –toward that exterior- is projected what the individual feels and thinks: whatever coincides in the dialogue –ah!- will be understood, comprehended, assimilated; whatever does not, will remain in doubt.
At the present, the United Nations, at its eighty-first meeting, is showing us a political catharsis unlike anything we ever seen before. A personalised language and, of course, one attacking another.
More than 190 countries are displaying their personalities, with their corresponding attacks and defences: threats and fears are the most recurrent ones.
There is no intention to offer proposals, ideas… At best, it's to express that “things can't go on like this”, that “we have to take into account those people in need”, that “the economic crisis”, “the environmental crisis”, “the artificial intelligence crisis”…
Is there any "human development" that isn't in crisis?
It will be difficult to find one, at a global level.
And it may exist in small groups that nurture themselves, that are vigilant, that plan ahead, that develop themselves.
The Prayerful Call whispers to us about our language, our ideas, our projects, suggesting that they are all interconnected and in harmony with everything. And that to the extent we fail to anticipate who our interlocutor is, what their position is, what language they understand –until that alert is awakened- the ripple effects of expression will continue with an increasingly projective, exponentially growing violence.
To conceive coexistence and sharing as a challenge, as a difficulty, as an enemy… implies an inevitable war: from the smallest things to the theoretically largest.
A clumsy but effective strategy is: when listening, respond first with what you have understood of what has been said to you. It takes longer and seems a bit "clumsy", but we get some surprises right from the start. And, above all, we gain in potential understanding.
In our language, words undoubtedly create. And this is becoming increasingly evident. An expression or a message that is not understood causes, or can cause, anguish, anxiety, worry. Because it hasn't been understood. It hasn't been said clearly.
The person has spoken to themselves, and the listener has listened to themselves, then understood… what, in their own mental framework, is interpreted by this or that word.
From there, a chain of interpretations is unleashed, creating a disturbance…; a chain reaction of disturbances that forces us to take refuge in our own self. And that is not who we are. We are universality. And we are in this time of crisis, which is not new, that we have been experiencing for some time, but that is becoming more acute at certain moments.
And this is happening in world news, where the message is becoming increasingly concise and the explanation less developed.
The big headline appears, and, when you get to the heart of the matter, it is something more than the headline and… and a little something else.
And so, we have to dig deeper and deeper into that headline, searching for related information or "dubious" interpretations, to get an idea of what was probably said, expressed, or understood.
And then, of course, there's the parliamentarian’s response, which they might even claim that nothing said was actually said by them.
What are we left with?
Undoubtedly, this situation has arisen due to a contagion effect. And each person, to protect their own position, hides behind their own self-interest, their sectarianism, their individualism… and the “inevitable” communications become harsh, difficult, and often incomprehensible; or worse, misinterpreted.
And consider what was briefly mentioned earlier: based on this incorrect information, the individual develops a whole series of proposals, projects, actions, and decisions that would have been very different had they understood and assimilated the true message.
And so… it becomes necessary to heed the call that summons us, that Prayerful Call. It is necessary to seek that vertical language of silence, which encourages and provokes us toward fantasy, imagination, interpretation, intuition… and the exploration of what we see.
Thus, prayer becomes the vertical language that then allows us to become horizontal.
And so, it becomes possible to see in the other their verticality, their intentionality, and to clearly interpret what is being conveyed.
In that catharsis at the UN that we have mentioned and that we are following more or less closely, the most significant players show us a colossal confrontation. However –however- the great powers appear affable, friendly, and cooperative with one another; which is a relief given what could potentially emerge from this.
Although in between, the mediocre… –and it's not that the powerful are special, but they are powerful nonetheless- the mediocre, which is the generic, is responsible for intimidating, frightening, and preventing, based on hearing sentences like:
“It is possible that in the coming months –“coming months” could be 3, 5, 10, 12, 24, 36, 42, right?- France, Italy, and Spain will suffer Soviet or Russian attacks”. “And –Spain replies- we don't have the means to defend ourselves”.
That can be interpreted as: “Well, yes, okay, anything is possible”, or it can be interpreted as: “Oh, I’m going to move. I’ll see if I can earn more money. No, I’ll move to another country. No. I think so, this is likely, this is possible”.
Just look at the internal catharsis that can be generated by the news that: “probably, in the coming months, we’ll have the war here”.
Of course. I’ll flee… –when it comes to processing- I’ll flee, where? Where to?
And whilst, indeed, I can’t find “where to”, fear takes hold of me, and I become distressed. I stock my home with food and supplies to withstand a siege, for example.
This is the scale on which the crisis operates.
Personal inbreeding becomes powerful, and it is maintained through means and resources.
And there are many examples, but it is clearly evident in contact with the outside world.
And that is why we must immediately take on board the suggestion of the Prayerful Call, so that our project, our actions, our intention, our vision, are clear, shared, and we are united. Because that is what is innate.
We cannot continue to maintain that the dog is man's best friend!
We cannot continue to substitute affection for pets!
And that will not take away our interrelation with the environment; quite the contrary: it will place it in the right balance so as not to unsettle other living beings, so as not to enslave other living beings.
And we must be clear about all of this, given the roll that corresponds to us as beings who have –and we all do- a healing vocation.
We must have the information, the training, and the open communication so that those who listen to us trust us and see the evidence of that trust, and in turn modify their actions and act accordingly. And we must establish a different chain of action than the current one, which is undoubtedly a chain of horrors, because it is an arms race, a race of conflicts, of misunderstandings.
Laws are becoming increasingly impracticable, open to interpretation, and consequently, disorganized.
And even minimal structuring requires an effort that is not appropriate, or should not be. Rather, it should be a creative, innovative flow.
But it is true that every time there are proposals, suggestions, innovations… the person backs down, gets scared: “Oh no! No, I can’t, no, no”. “And how…? And then…? And…?”.
The Prayerful Call promotes and provokes us toward creativity, innovation, art, free interpretation, and the expression of sincerity.
And, obviously, it takes us out of any comfort zone we may have been in, or may find ourselves in.
And so, without time, there is always time.
So, if it seems like a lot, it's actually a little.
So, if I can't, it's actually possible.
We are called to pray in order to enhance our fluency, our communication, our projective vision, our associative capacity, our insightful service, our readiness to help. And may it never fall into obligation, or may that help become an obligation of… tyranny!, as so often happens.
Solidarity is essential, but at the same time, that solidarity must promote the individuals who comprise it, so that each one contributes their value, their worth. May solidarity not end up abolishing personal contribution. The phrase “teach a man to fish, not give him a fish” comes to mind again.
Thus, in this act of solidarity and healing, we also teach, we learn.
And to the extent that we know, we become creative, we innovate. It's all… a sequence of pure chances.
But if, on the contrary, the being goes with its radical identity, there are no chances; there is confusion and blows to left and right.
Let us not demand what we can do. Let's not demand what we can give. Not claiming what we have to do.
We must continually pay attention to those trends that, in one way or another, enslave others and us.
We must maintain both individual, collective, and social commitments simultaneously. It's not fair to say, "It's your responsibility. I don't know about that". "It's not my problem”. Yes, it is my problem.
And that's why we must be informed, that's why we must educate ourselves: to have an opinion, to develop our own judgment.
And to that extent, we will be connected to what is really, probably, almost certainly happening. And we will have the resources, of course, to deliver the best of what we have to offer.
The being, by its very nature of being in a state of permanent Creation, by inhabiting an infinite and potentially expansive –in the sense of accelerated- any circumstance that arise has, by its very nature, the resources to resolve itself, to solve it.
So, anguish, fear, worry... that whole useless chain of service that consumes itself and consumes, is pointless.
As creative beings, and in perpetual creation, everything that arises from creation belongs to us, and therefore, difficulty is merely an illusion.
